Oh puppers and kittehs, Lookie at who moved in to the empty nest under out patio cover......
It's our furst hummingbird!! This will be our third year in a row that the little guys have set up house in that nestie. They usually have two eggs, and usually one of em' falls out, and we have to put it back in. They are really sweet birdies, and let us help em'. So now we know Spring is comin' soon!!
OMD OMD..... WE were just talkin about maybe seeing a ROBIN soon... and POOF you have a HUMMER. THAT is just marvelous... such a fine HOPEFUL SIGN of BETTER things to come.
ReplyDelete{{{SIGH}}} THANK YOU RUBY fur giving us something pleasant to think about!!
YEA!!! Your furst HUMMINGBIRD of the Season!!!
SHE is so envious. It's the one bird SHE misses from Virginia. We have loads of parrots, budgies, wrens....you name it. But SHE loves the little Humminbirds. You are so lucky.

Oh how cool!!!! I used to get doves that would nest in my yard but I think they got tired of me taking close up pictures of them and so they don't come anymore...now there is just an empty nest.
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind to help them out when they fall out of the nest!
Oooo, what a cool thing to have in your very own backyard :-) Hummingbirds are beautiful and so fun to watch! You should definitely go to Santa Cruz with your Ma, just imagine that ocean breeze..aw! I've never been there but it sounds similar to Monterey (that I love)! Just remember that Capitola isn't very pup friendly, weirdos, I know!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou've got your very own hummingbird! That is so cool, Ruby! I can't wait to see what the babies will look like =)
ReplyDeleteoooh you lucky dawg you! A very pretty neighbour indeed!
ReplyDeleteSlobbers
Hey Ruby!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fun furiend to have sharing your territory! I get lots of them around my deck in the Summer, but I've never seen a nest. NEAT! I get to see a nest of robins hatch and grow, but never a hummer. Please let us see pix as they hatch and grow! :)
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
Ruby that is sooooooo COOL! Spring just has to be right around the corner. I love hummingbirds. When I wear my read collar they buzz me. It cracks MOM up. I told her it's because I am so sweet that's why they buzz me.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
We have hummers in a couple of different species. I've never seen a nest, but there's so much open space, it could be well hidden.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that the hoomans purposely planted vegetation that hummers enjoy. They love hummers.
DeleteThat is so cool! We don't expect our hummingbirds to return for a few months. One always nests in our yard, but we have never found her nest. Please keep us updated with pictures as the babies progress.
ReplyDeleteCindy (Millie's mom)
OMD that's sooo cool!
ReplyDeleteNola
Well, we've hardly had winter here but I guess the humans will be glad for spring. Good job helping those humming birds with their eggs. My, they need to be more careful!
ReplyDeleteNora
We won't see hummers for another month if they follow their usual schedule. Our Mom loves to watch them.
ReplyDeleteMom says that Portie puppies look just like Old English and Bearded Collie puppies. Sometimes she can't tell which is which in pictures. We're glad that Norma Jean brings back happy memories for your Mom.

Oh we love hummingbirds. When we ar hiking in our mountains, they sometimes follow us flying around my head. My Vickie loves the little sounds they make as they zoom by.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have some living right there at your house.
Bert
That is so cool. Hummingbirds can be lovely neighbors to have. I hope the babies stay nice and safe. I am sure you will be on guard and the Mommy appreciates that.

Oh wow, that's cool! We don't have ANY birds in our backyard... I don't know why... *Looks in Floyd's general direction...*
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool!
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming soon? Oh no!!!! No wonder our trees are starting to shed. Poo.
ReplyDeleteYour birds are much nicer than ours. The Typist rescued a baby bird once and got attacked by the momma bird for weeks after.
